Artist Boat

The Coastal Roots program was begun in 2000 as an educational outreach project for the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program. In 2006, it became incorporated as a part of Louisiana State University.

In partnership with Artist Boat, the Coastal Roots Program has created the Coastal Literacy Radio Stewardship Project for Kids (CLRSPK). To date, 3 schools have received low frequency radio broadcast systems through the Coastal Roots CLRSPK Program: Belle Chase Middle School in Belle Chase, Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School in Lake Charles, and Saint Charles Parish Schools Satellite Center in Luling.
