Turn the T.I.D.E. Professional Development

July 20, 2020 @ 9:00 am - July 23, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

Turn the T.I.D.E. is a basic exploration of climate change. We start with a discussion and lessons on what is climate change, how do we know our planet is warming, and navigating difficult conversations. We will then “dive” into the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary to learn about the current threats to corals including ocean acidification and bleaching. Sea level rise is three times faster on the upper Texas coast than the global average – how will that impact our communities and our local ecosystems? Finally, we will discuss the causes and consequences of extreme weather for our region.
