Help 4 Galveston Eco-Art Dune Restoration

In March of 2009, Artist Boat teamed up with Help 4 Galveston, a new office through the City of Galveston, and Ameri Corps to restore about half an acre of important dune habitat that had been destroyed by Hurricane Ike.

Sixty eight participants from an Alternative Spring Break in which students from all around the nation volunteer in areas of need during spring break helped plant more than 6,000 sand dune plants. The volunteers were comprised of students from the University of Massachusetts-Boston, Albright University, Towson University, University of Arkansas, as well as Ameri Corps representatives.
