For five years Artist Boat has been providing hands-on educational experiences combining the disciplines of art and science to explore coastal habitats through the Eco-Art Workshop and Adventure via kayak and vessel. We are excited to announce we have been awarded a grant by Texas Education Agency to provide 7th and 8th grade teachers of Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Harris, and Liberty counties with our Environmental Program. With this increase we hope to expand our Program to reach more students of the upper Texas coast.
Our integrated curriculum fuses art, science, and math to not only increase TAKS scores, but also develop keen observation and higher-level critical thinking skills in students. In addition, we hope to assist students in gaining an appreciation of our natural environment! Our time spent in nature takes students beyond the classroom to engage the senses and imagination. We hope to continue providing students with an experience that widens the lens through which they see the world and also create memories that they will carry for a lifetime.
