Bucket Brigade Volunteer Interpreters
The Bucket Brigade provides free interpretive tours of Galveston's beach ecosystems to the public. Tours help educate the public on topics such as water turbidity, sargassum, and the creatures and features of Galveston Beaches. Tours are offered between March and August 2017.
Hours: The Bucket Brigade provides 6, 45-minute tours at each location daily, and Volunteer Interpreters may sign up for either a full day (6 tours) or a half day (3 tours). We ask that Volunteers commit to at least 1, 3-hour shift each month.
Training: Training on topics and tours is provided during a 3-4 hour training opportunity and field practice with a Bucket Brigade Lead Interpreter.

Artist Boat is currently recruiting individuals to join our Sea Citizen ranks! Sea Citizens are volunteers who want to get involved with Artist Boat's Eco-Art Kayak Adventure programs and our Habitat Restoration program on a more in-depth level, learn new skills, and acquire field experience in either habitat restoration or environmental outreach.
Sea Citizens interested in Habitat Restoration can become volunteer leaders for our Coastal Heritage Preserve. Sea Citizens can help with Volunteer Workdays, ecological monitoring of the Preserve, and other aspects of restoring the Preserve.
Hours: We ask that volunteers commit to at least three hours each month, which can be done all in one volunteer session or spread out over a variety of days.
Training: Training on habitat restoration techniques, land management strategies, local wildlife identification, and history of the Preserve is provided during two one-two hour training opportunities and field practice with an Artist Boat staff member.
For more information click here or contact Kristen Simmons at email@example.com.
Sea Citizens interested in kayaking can help Artist Boat Eco-Art Educators provide environmental outreach during our Public Eco-Art Kayak Adventures. Sea Citizens would act as a sweep during adventures, helping participants with basic kayaking principles and assisting the Eco-Art Educator during the tours.
Hours: Our Eco-Art Kayak Adventures are typically four hours long, with an extra two hours for set up and clean up. Therefore, we ask that volunteers commit to a six or seven hour day once a month, preferably on the weekend.
Training: Training on basic paddle techniques, loading and unloading kayaks, setting up and breaking down adventures, and general wetland and coastal habitat ecology will be provided during one field training session with an Artist Boat staff member.

Volunteer Workdays at the Coastal Heritage Preserve
Artist Boat is hosting weekly volunteer workdays at the Coastal Heritage Preserve! Throughout the next few months, we'll be removing invasive and harmful species from the Preserve, such as the red imported fire ant, Macartney rose, and salt cedar, as well as restringing fence line by replacing barbwire with wildlife-safe high-tensile wire fencing. We'll also be planting seeds, bumping-up seedlings, and planting trees and grasses in the Preserve.
Hours: Workdays are single-day events you can attend as often as you want!
Training: No training or experience is required to participate.
