Chelby King, originally from Austin, has a twenty-five-year career in fundraising and non-profit management, a career built working many years in the art world in Galveston, Houston, and Austin. In her new position with Artist Boat, she promotes the benefits to all ages of experiences exploring nature and creating eco-art on the Texas Gulf Coast, preserving the coastal prairie on Galveston Island, and the full mission of Artist Boat. Prior to coming to Artist Boat, Ms. King worked for Sea Star Base Galveston, The Bryan Museum, Lawndale Art Center in Houston, and Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin. She holds an M.A. in art history from the University of Houston and a B.A. in History from Austin College. Her hobby is collecting antiques and art, one she shares with her husband, Don Browne. They have a Great Pyrenes, Augustus, who brings them a lot of joy.
