Lindsay has an extensive background in connecting communities to nature. She graduated with a degree in Environmental Education from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC, where she taught science in underserved schools. After college she served as the AmeriCorps Environmental Education Coordinator for Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge and volunteered as an organic farmer in Hawaii. Her love of travel eventually led her to Austin, TX, where she led cave exploration field trips for the City of Austin’s Watershed Protection Department. She later completed an advanced Outdoor Educator NOLS course in Alaska and in 2016 founded Mermaids for Clean Water, the world’s first water quality education nonprofit that utilizes the archetype of the mermaid to inspire children to create a clean water future. Prior to coming to Artist Boat, Lindsay served as Education Director for Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center near Austin, TX. Lindsay is currently a graduate student at Texas State University pursuing her Masters in Sustainability Studies. She dreams of writing a book about the intersections of homelessness, sustainability in major US cities, and critical environmental justice theory. She loves to spend time surfing, dancing, and camping with friends.
