Born and raised in Texas, Rachel Thornton grew up with a passion for the freshwater and marine environments. In 2018, she graduated from Texas A&M University Galveston with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology. During her high school and college years she participated in several internships focusing on habitat management, conservation, and educating the public.
She joined the Artist Boat in August 2018 as an Eco-Art Educator. She hopes that by reaching others with art and science she can share the importance of preserving and protecting the balance between the needs of society and what marine species need to remain an irreplaceable part of our natural world.
