Blue Carbon Art Exhibit – maybe in the “works”

May 2, 2020 @ 10:00 am - May 3, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

We’re still trying to figure out how to Celebrate Galveston’s own middle school students who have become Eco-Artists!

We were scheduled to have the Student Art Exhibition at the Bryan Museum.

Through funding from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Bay and Watershed Education Training Grant and the Moody Permanent Endowment Fund, Artist Boat created STEAM Powered: Blue Carbon IQ.

Blue Carbon IQ is a program which is designed to foster knowledge and skills in 6th and 7th grade students and teachers on Galveston Island. Students and teachers learn to discuss and visually communicate the essential importance of “blue carbon habitats” to the broader community.

Artist Boat worked with schools on Galveston Island over the 2019-2020 academic school year. The program was comprised of 3 hands-on in class workshops and 2 kayak adventures in the salt marshes of Galveston. The program culminated in the creation of the interpretive art pieces. Come see what students learned about our current or future environments in Galveston Marshes.

Stay tuned for viewing….
